Although the staff and doctor has been amazing both Charlie and I are ready to get the heck out of here! To hear the whole story check it out at the end of this post....

Charlie caught a cold from his big sister on Christmas Day. He started wheezing on the 26th. Since we were out of town I called a nurse and she told me it sounded like he had a cold and gave me some home remedies to help him out. She said if he got worse to go to a "doc in the box" 30 miles down the road. I kept hoping he would get better but the night of the 28th around 11ish he was wheezing and not sleeping. He was loosing his color too. After all the home remedies did not work I headed to the closest hospital around 2am. He got an x-ray and breathing treatment but his oxygen level was in the low 80's (normal is 92-100). The hospital did not have a pediatric department so they sent us to another hospital via ambulance with oxygen. We arrived early in the morning and when we got settled I got to contact Clay and within 5 minutes he was on his way down from Alabama. I also was admitted at the first hospital for the same thing as Charlie (when it rains it pours). After a few different meds I am finally on the mend too.
Since Charlie is so young he does not recover from respiratory viruses like us or even his older sister. He only has cartilage for ribs and his esophagus is too small and gets inflamed. Since it is a virus no drugs will fix it. They did breathing treatments every three hours, oral steroid every twelve hours and oxygen to keep his O2 level up. We are coming home with an aspirator to give him breathing treatment and the doctor thinks it could take up to 12 more days for him to finally get over his bronchilitos. We have to follow up with Charlie's pediatrician when we return home. He will also need to see a pulmonary specialist to see if he does have asthma.
We have made some milestones during out hospital stay! He turned 7 months old. Charlie has three teeth now, yeah no fun adding teething to all of this. He also has learned how to pull up on things! He is on all fours now rocking back and fourth! He will be crawling soon! OH NO, two kids on the loose.....
I want to thank everyone for your prayers, emails and phone calls. My Mother for cancelling her flight and taking care of Vera for us. Great Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for helping out Mom and Vera. Heather for stepping up and taking care of the animals for us and Clay for rushing down to be with us and comforting me.
Let's pray this new year NO MORE COLDS!

So glad to hear Charlie is on the mend! I'm sure you'll need a couple weeks to recover from the hospital stay yourself.

God Bless our little Charlie - the
prayers for him came from California and Wisconsin, Illinois
and Ohio, Florida and Alabama and
he rode those prayers with God's
help and now is home. What a great

Whew! What a relief. . .I'm so glad to hear that you're on your way out of that hospital! I wish I could've stayed in AL longer to help out once you got home. I know little Charlie will be well taken care of, but you make sure to take care of yourself too! Love y'all!

I am so sorry for not posting before now. I was so wrapped up in our life that I didn't realize Charlie was even sick. I'm glad to hear he's better now and we'll say an extra prayer the he continues to improve. By the way, in the picture where he's in a diaper, sitting up and playing with the hospital toys, he looks just like Ella.

Take care!
