Happy Birthday Clay

Clay is turning 29 on the 30th of January. We went out with some friends tonight. His Mom and Nana are coming in on the 30th for a few days to celebrate his birthday but most of all to see Vera. We never used to have visitors until Vera came along. Check out the pictures from dinner on the right of my blog.......

babysitting

Last night I watched our neighbors kids for about 4 hours. I thought one baby was work but three wore me out... (Beth- your sure you want 5)
They are fantastic kids and we had a great time. Vera was in love with Hayden. She sat in her chair for almost an hour while he played with her! She's in love..... Haylie kept calling Vera a He which made me chuckle.

On another note...
Vera rolled over all by herself! I thought it was a false alarm because she only did it once the whole day. But, we tried again today and she did it! I scared her the first time because I screamed I was so excited! She is officially turning over from her belly to her back. My sister-in-law tells me that is the first step and it could be a while until she turns from back to belly. It must be hard working with that budda belly! HE HE HE

12/31/06

My best friend Sarah just sent me these pictures from Vera's baptism. We had a breakfast before the church service and here are a few pictures. The boy in the bengal jersey is my friend, Sarah's 8 month old Jacob. The other boy is my nephew William along with his parents, Nash and Kelly. I was so shocked to see this picture of Vera because she no longer fits in that outfit. She loves her hands by her face. We soon discovered that she sleeps like me. We also found out that both my Mom and my Grandma sleep that way too... Runs in the family.

Pretty Girl

First Haircut

Clay and I never thought we would have a baby with so much hair.. I had to cut her hair already and she is only 2 months old. She is starting to get the baby bald spot in the back but still had the long mullet.. I had to cut it off! Clay was so upset and wants me to promise not to cut it until she is 1.. I told him he should never worry about a cosmetologist daughters hair, it will always look good (even if it sticks straight up!).
We had to take pictures of her cute budda belly too....

Grandma Carol's Visit

Our Family
Grandma's Girl
Three Generations

Grandma Carol (my Mom) left today after spending a few days with us. She fortunetly missed the ice storm and left in enough time to escape the upcoming snow storm that is due to arrive this afternoon. She was amazed at how much bigger Vera was from Christmas. Next time she sees her we will be in Florida on our first vacation as a family!

Discovering....

Today Grandma and Vera played with her discovery mat! She layed down and stared at all the colors and shapes for almost an hour. My Mom is having a blast with Vera. All I do is feed her and than it is back to Grandma! She says, "I didn't drive all this way for you to hold her!". .... Got to love Grandma's!

2 Month Well Checkup

Our baby is amazing! We just took her for her 2 month well checkup. I was excited to hear how much she has grown but very nervous about the immunizations.
Vera has done some growing...
Height is 23" - in the 90%tile
Weight is 12 pounds 5 ounces - in the 95%tile
Head Circumference 41.5 cm - in the 95%tile
Now I know why Vera is wearing 3 month clothes at 2 months old! SHE IS A BIG GIRL!
The doctor was very impressed with her sleeping pattern. As well as holding her head up, tracking rattles and smiling. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER!
She did great with her shots too. The staff was great at the hospital. There were two nurses giving her shots together so it was very quick. She only cried when they gave her the shot but was fine as soon as it was all done.
Grandma Carol just drove into town to visit Vera for the week! I am starting to get ready for another move so Grandma gets to love on Vera while I work.... (The Good Will will love me)
I'm sure we will take some pictures this week. I will be sure to post them for you!

Daddy time

Daddy has a four day weekend (MLK) and we are having a blast spending time together!

We had maintnance here yesterday and the guy who was installing our floor looked at Vera and me and said she must look like her Dad. I hear that all the time!!!! Good thing her Dad is cute.

sleepy head

Vera amazes Clay and I more and more each day... Last night Vera slept for 8 HOURS! That might not mean much to some of you, but to parents of an 8 week old that is huge. I thought it could not get any better but I finally had to wake her up at 9am this morning after sleeping another 5 hours. Clay wanted me to let her sleep but I have to keep her on a schedule! I took some shots of her sleeping so peaceful. She loves her hands and looks just like me when I sleep.... It is hard to believe but we swaddle her with her hands in the blanket. She manages to get those big hands out every time. As you can see she thinks it is funny!

8 Weeks Old

Today Vera is 8 weeks old. It is hard to believe how fast time goes by. All my family and friends who have children told me this is how it would be but you never know until you experience it for yourself. I feel like she is doing something new and growing bigger everyday. Clay and I are truly blessed with such a wonderful child. She has been such a good baby. She is going to bed at 8pm and sleeping 6 to 7 hours until she feeds and goes right back down until 7 or 8am. (VERY LUCKY) As you can see with all her new rolls on her body she is breast feeding like a champ! Our favorite event is bath time. She loves being in the water. She smiles and holds Clay's hand so tight! We are working on getting that hair to not stick up so much too. Her favorite thing to do is being naked! She smiles, talkes and is working on rolling over. She just needs a little help from Mommy but before long she will be doing it on her own. She will be turning 2 months next week which again is so hard to believe. I will update everyone after her well checkup! I can't wait to see how much she has grown.

Rolling over...

Aunt Kelly

I founds these pictures while downloading some others and wanted to post them on the site. Aunt Kelly (my sister-in-law) is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. I was calling her the Baby Whisperer! She taught Clay and I so much and was so wonderful with Vera. I thank her for Vera sleeping 7 hours a night, swaddle pro! We can't wait to see her again in February! LOVE YOU

Win or loose we are still proud of our Ohio State Buckeye's! Thanks to all the family and friends who got us Ohio State gear for Christmas!

I purchased this onsie when I found out I was pregnant. We loved Ft. Carson and also she was conceived there. This was right after her bath tonight. I try to get her hair to stay down but it has a mind of it's own.
We are back in the groove in Leonard Wood. Clay is busy again with class work and I am still miserable in this little hole we are supposed to call a house. I am counting down the days till we move!
I hope you enjoy the pictures!
